Enjoy inspired tastings of Canarian dishes paired with local wines and discover how their harmonious relationships enhance the dining experience. To better understand the enogastronomy – or deep connection between food and wine – you will visit the Janubio Salt Flats. Sea salt has been extracted there for more than 120 years through an artisanal process that you will see firsthand. Not all of the salt has the same flavor as you will discover by tasting Janubio Salt Flower, a saline product harvested from the top layer of the salt flats. Distinctly marine flavored, the salt is a key ingredient in Canarian haute cuisine. While dining at the Mirador Las Salinas restaurant, which overlooks the salt flats, you will gain insight into how the locally source salt and wines such as Malvasía Volcánica complement the meal. You will see another perspective of Lanzarote’s volcanic landscape at El Golfo, a bright green lagoon amid a black-sand volcanic beach.

Note: Coaches do not have a lift and entering and exiting must be done via stairs. This tour includes approximately 2 hours of walking and standing over even, and uneven terrain. The Janubio Salt Flats are not wheelchair accessible. As this excursion involves standing and walking for periods of time over even, and uneven terrain for approximately 2 hours, those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Casual, weather-appropriate clothing, comfortable, flat walking shoes, sunglasses - if you are sensitive to light and powerful reflections the salt creates, as well as a hat or any item to cover yourself from the sun are suggested.
