Indulge in a sampling of wines and sparkling cavas in the acclaimed Penedés wine region after an enlightening ride through the vineyards on a 4-wheel-drive vehicle. Your immersion into wine-making will begin at Can Bas, a family estate that produces premium cavas through a method similar to that used to make champagne in France. Cava is named for the stone cellars or “cavas” where the sparkling wine matures. A viticulturist will explain the process step by step. You can expect to sample four cavas – each made from a different grape variety – thoughtfully paired with tapas. The estate also owns Pere Ventura Cava a winery on an extraordinary piece of property where grapes have been cultivated for more than 2,000 years. After learning about the land’s unique terroir, you will settle in for another inspired tasting. Tapas will be served that perfectly complement the single-vineyard wines.
