OVERVIEW
Explore a crystallized limestone cave at the heart of an eco-adventure park from several perspectives and come away with a thorough understanding of this natural attraction. Harrison’s Cave lies in the island’s central uplands and although young in geological terms, the subterranean cave system is well developed. After watching a short film about the island of Barbados, you will board an electric-powered tram and ride through Harrison’s Cave, which is named for a settler that owned much of Barbados when it was a British colony. You will see bizarrely shaped stalactites, stalagmites and other calcite deposits that are beautifully illuminated, making them appear even more dramatic. There are even pools, streams and waterfalls within the cave. Back on the surface, you will experience more of the natural world by following a winding trail to an aviary full of tropical birds. Afterwards, you can browse the on-site Mount Gay rum museum.
