Bicycle through the tree-lined streets of Buenos Aires, pausing along the way in parks and neighborhoods that reflect the diverse character of Argentina’s capital.
After departing from the pier on a bicycle, you will soon reach Plaza San Martin, one of the oldest squares in Buenos Aires. The surrounding park is dotted with monuments, including one dedicated to national hero José de San Martin, who helped lead the revolutions against Spanish rule in the early 19th century.
As you pedal through the bike-friendly streets of Buenos Aires, you will enjoy a unique perspective of the highlights. The exact order of the route will depend on traffic and the guide’s intimate knowledge of which destinations are best visited at that particular time.
You can expect to see the giant steel flower sculpture that rises out of a pond in the United Nations Square, the contemporary Museum of Latin American Art, and the affluent Palermo Woods neighborhood. Revered for its many parks, the leafy neighborhood is home to the Galileo Galilei Planetarium, an iconic domed structure that opened in the 1960s.
El Rosedal is another neighborhood attraction. More than 15,000 rose bushes grace the fragrant garden, and their variety is absolutely staggering. Nearby, you will find a monument to former first lady Eva Peron, more affectionately known as Evita.
To more fully understand her importance, before returning to the pier, you will visit her tomb in Recoleta Cemetery, the final resting place for Argentina’s wealthy and powerful.
