Admire the naturally beautiful beaches that rim Cadiz as a scenic appetizer of sorts before heading into Old Town for lunch. Many of those beaches have received a Blue Flag designation for being clean and environmentally friendly. Consequently, they are all naturally beautiful as you will discover while pausing at Playa de Caleta. This spectacular stretch of sand in the shadow of San Sebastian Castle is so photogenic that it was chosen as a film location for the James Bond movie “Die Another Day.” The aptly named restaurant El Faro – meaning The Lighthouse – stands nearby in the Old Quarter. Being the oldest continuously occupied city in Western Europe, Cadiz exudes history, especially there. Three generations of the Córdoba family have run El Faro since it opened in 1946, and you can expect an extraordinary dining experience. Seafood dominates the menu and is especially satisfying when prepared in a classic Cadiz style.
