Sample a variety of tapas characteristic of the Andalusia region and watch a passionate flamenco performance after dining. Built in 1830, Abastos Market has the distinction of being the oldest covered market in Spain and it is still flourishing. While browsing among the stalls, you will see an array of garden-fresh produce, ground spices and just-caught seafood. These traditional ingredients are staples in the cuisine of Andalusia and many of them will be in the tapas that you will be served at Peña Flamenca Juan Villar. This popular restaurant and nightclub perches on one end of crescent-shaped La Caleta Beach, opposite the 16th-century San Sebastian Castle. Like tapas, flamenco is synonymous with Cadiz and so culturally important that UNESCO recognized it on its Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list. Flamenco is an electrifying art form that fuses expressive songs, passionate dancing and emotional music. It is especially mesmerizing when seen live.
