OVERVIEW
Behold the natural beauty of Humber Valley while riding a chairlift high above the slopes of Marble Mountain and afterwards drop by the lodge to partake in a local ceremony, known as a screech-in. The Lightning Express ski lift – which is used for sightseeing in the summer – will carry you to the summit. Despite its name, the chair lift will run at half speed so you can fully appreciate the natural beauty. The higher you go, the more spectacular the views of the Bay of Islands, Humber Valley and the distant Long Range Mountains. From the top, more than 1,700 feet above sea level, you will enjoy the ultimate panoramic view. You will also descend on the ski lift to the Knotty Pine Lounge, where you can become an “Honorary Newfoundlander” by participating in a traditional Screech-In ceremony. It involves downing a shot of rum – known as “screech” for the reaction it often elicits – repeating a short recitation and kissing a frozen cod on the lips.
