Cairns Craft Beer & Spirits Tasting

OVERVIEW

Sample a variety of craft beers and spirits at four venues and see how these unique North Queensland beverages are produced using locally sourced ingredients. Although the exact locations may change, you will likely begin with a tour and tasting at Macalister Brewing Company, an award-winning microbrewery with a 200-seat bar that is an indication of its popularity. You will also tour a second brewery – perhaps Hemingway’s on the wharf or the Coral Sea – for a tasting and an eye-opening, behind-the-scenes look at the brewing process. The brewery tours tend to be as refreshing as the beers. Cairns is also known for distilled spirits such as the gin that Distil on the Hill artfully handcrafts in small batches from local botanicals and organic Macedonian juniper. The fourth venue will probably be Narrow Tracks Distilling, which uses a base of Queensland sugarcane its spirits, which include apple pie-flavored moonshine and gin.
