Visit a tea plantation for a fascinating insider's tour that depicts how one of Sri Lanka's most important cash crops are cultivated. Ingiriya is a lush region boasting ideal conditions for growing tea and rubber.

Upon your arrival at the tea plantation, you’ll be welcomed with garlands made from tea leaves that are grown on the premises. The production of tea is essential to the economy of western Sri Lanka and you’ll see the entire process from field to table. Watch the tea being plucked from the plant, dried, fermented and graded according to size.

Considered one of the finest teas in the world, Ceylon tea has been produced in Sri Lanka since the first crop was introduced in 1867. Much like wine grapes, tea reflects the climatic and soil conditions in which it was grown. You’ll be able to taste the distinct flavor by sampling a cup of freshly brewed Ceylon tea in the factory.
