OVERVIEW

This excursion is for guests that use a cane/walker, have limited mobility issues or for companions of those guest that have booked mobility equipment tour.

Tour includes step-free routes, shorter distances and no stairs. Accessible restrooms with wide doors for wheelchairs are present along the tour route. Vehicles are adapted with an access ramp (or lift where available) to accommodate a limited number of wheelchairs and/or mobility scooters. Guides are not allowed to push wheelchairs; therefore, guests needing special assistance must be accompanied by an able-bodied.

Become immersed in the fascinating Mayan culture and then luxuriate on one of Cozumel’s most attractive beaches. The Maya settled Cozumel about 2,000 years ago and their influence is still celebrated throughout the island. While meandering through a cultural center, you will browse exhibits that depict the ancient Mayan way of life and hear theories as to why their advanced civilization declined. To enhance your understanding of the culture, you will be treated to a traditional Mayan dance performance, participate in Mayan ceremonies and taste a chocolate drink much like the ones the Mayas consumed as far back as 500 BC. An exploration of El Cedral, the site of Cozumel’s oldest Mayan ruins, will provide an even deeper immersion into the Mayan world. You will toast the experience with a tasting of tequila, an iconic Mexican spirit first produced in the 16th century. Then, it’s on to a nearby beach, where you can relax however, you see fit.
