Gain a chronological understanding of how Panama City developed by walking through the colonial district and driving through the more modern downtown. Old Panama was founded in 1519 and flourished until Captain Henry Morgan ruthlessly destroyed it 150 years later. The city was moved to Casco Antiguo, a UNESCO World Heritage site recognized for preserving that original street plan and the unusual mix of French and Spanish architecture. Highlights include the Metropolitan Cathedral, whose entrance is flanked by two signature bell towers, and the cross-shaped National Theatre. For a contrast, you will drive along vibrant Balboa Drive, a waterside thoroughfare lined with luxury highrises that cuts through the heart of the Financial District. This part of Panama City reflects its prosperity and vision for the future. Following the panoramic drive, you will transfer to the airport for your flight.

Note: It is recommended to book this excursion AFTER you have your flight information in order to avoid cancellation. Tour begins approximate 1 hour after ships’ arrival with a duration of about 3 hours. Suggested flight departure should begin no sooner than 3 hours after tour completion. This tour is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties as it involves walking at uneven ground in Colonial Panama. All guests getting off the ship and going on tour in Panama will need to bring a valid Passport with minimum validity of 6 months. This tour ends at Panama International Airport (PTY). Debark shore excursions will only be available to book 50 days prior to sailing. To avoid air ticketing conflicts, air must be ticketed before the debarkation shore excursion can be booked. This applies to independent air and air booked through NCL.
