OVERVIEW
Delve into the engaging local culture through revealing attractions such as O’Sulloc Tea Museum, which takes the island’s reverence for tea to a new level. You can expect to learn about Korea’s traditional tea ceremonies, see unusual tea cups from around the world and perhaps even sample green tea ice cream. From the museum’s second-floor observatory, you will be treated to sweeping views of the surrounding plantation and its terraced fields of tea. Yakcheonsa Temple will offer a glimpse into the island’s Buddhist culture. A stream spills into a serene pond at the base of the temple and chances are you will see believers drinking from its supposedly medicinal waters. Jeju Island was volcanically formed, which will be clearly evident at foreboding Jusanjeolli Cliff. It features almost perfect hexagonal columns that formed during the Pleistocene Period when molten lava hit the cold ocean water, quickly cooled, fractured and shot high into the air in columns.
