OVERVIEW

Watch a Genoese chef prepare pesto for your tasting and then enjoy a full meal that highlights the local cuisine. As an introduction to Genoa, you will view some of the most iconic attractions on a driving tour. Highlights include the towering Lanterna lighthouse that has become a symbol of the city and the Castelletto esplanade, an overlook that offers the most panoramic view of Genoa. Still, to truly appreciate the Genoese culture, you must indulge in the food. You will have that opportunity at a restaurant in the Old Port district, where a chef will demonstrate how to make Pesto Genoese. The ingredients must be local and certified with a Protected Designation of Origin, otherwise the pesto isn’t authentic. The sauce will be served over trofie, small, ribbed twists of pasta that are native to Liguria. After the tasting, you will settle in for a full meal of other Ligurian dishes.

Note: Any food allergies must be noted when booking the tour. Coaches do not have a lift and entering and exiting must be done via stairs. This tour includes approximately 2 hours of walking and standing over even, and uneven surfaces mainly at the guest's discretion. It is available to guests who utilize a collapsible wheelchair and can make their way on and off the coach approximately 3 steps, they must have an able companion to assist them. The tour requires to hop on/off the bus during visit and photo stop at De Ferrari Square. Those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Casual, weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable, flat walking shoes are suggested
