Travel in comfort aboard a high-speed expedition vessel to experience the very best of Tracy Arm Wilderness Area, including glacier-carved cliffs, spectacular waterfalls, and exciting close-up views of the Sawyer Glacier. The adventure begins as soon as you board the high-speed expedition vessel from your cruise ship. This Alaskan-built vessel is custom built from our Sitka shipyard, specifically to explore the beautiful Tracy Arm Wilderness Area. The vessel is equipped with: comfortable seating, wrap around windows, heated cabin, restrooms, outside viewing deck and galley gift shop. The exceptional agility of the vessel will allow you to have an in-depth exploration of this amazing fjord. Your Captain will make many detours and stops, allowing you incredible opportunities to view and photograph cobalt-blue icebergs, spectacular cliffs, waterfalls, and abundant wildlife. Species of wildlife you might see include: harbor seals, bald eagles, mountain goats, whales and the occasional bear. The onboard naturalist will provide a wealth of information about the area, which naturalist John Muir called “a wild, untamed Yosemite.”

Need to Know:

Note: The vessel used for this tour pulls up alongside the cruise ship right as your ship arrives in Juneau. The tour will return guests directly to the cruise ship while still docked in Juneau. We recommend participants bring a warm jacket, hat and gloves to wear on the observation deck. In the event that unpredictable and ever-changing ice conditions preclude the vessel from entering the upper reaches of Tracy Arm fjord, the tour will be modified to explore Endicott Arm, an adjacent fjord and tidewater glacier of equal beauty. Due to diminishing daylight and ice condition this tour is not available in early May or mid to late August. This tour is not wheelchair accessible. Participants must be able to navigate a narrow, moderately steep gangway with only moderate assistance to embark and disembark the tour vessel. Strollers and walkers are not permitted on the gangway. Wildlife sightings are frequent but not guaranteed. A picnic-style lunch is provided; 24 hour notice needed for guest with dietary requests. Beer, wine, additional snacks and Alaskan-made retails products are available for purchase. US Dollars and credit cards accepted.
