OVERVIEW
This tour is intended for guests who have limited mobility, rely on a cane or walker, or for guests’ companions.
Discover the many charms of Slovenia’s petite capital of Ljubljana by exploring its atmospheric Old Town and brooding castle, which you will reach by funicular. The influence of famed Slovene architect Jože Plečnik will be apparent throughout, starting with his redesigned triple bridge that leads into Old Town. Other highlights include the Robba Fountain, the statue of France Preseren that overlooks the great poet’s namesake square and the twin-towered Church of St. Nicholas, which was consecrated in 1707. Following a lunch of traditional Slovenian food, you will ride the funicular up Castle Hill, while taking in the spectacular views of the city below. Ljubljana Castle has loomed atop the hill since the mid-15th century. Over the years, it has served as a defensive stronghold, prison, military hospital and arsenal until finally being renovated for tourism in the 1970s. After browsing the castle’s interior, you might linger outside to admire the sweeping panoramas.
