Enjoy an authentic taste of Cyprus by sampling regional products, wines made with indigenous grapes and dishes that reflect the Mediterranean climate. In the wine-producing village of Arso, you will stop to sample desserts made with grape juice such as shoushoukos and kiofteri. To gain a deeper understanding of Cypriot grapes and wines, you will tour the Ktima Gerolemo winery and sample organic offerings that may include a red maratheftiko, a white promara and a muscat sweet dessert wine. Another glimpse into Cypriot gastronomy awaits you at a tavern in Vouni, where the chef will demonstrate how to prepare dishes such as tzatziki and koupepia. Feel free to join in and help to stuff the vine leaves with locally sourced ingredients such as minced pork, tomatoes and rice. A traditional meze-style lunch of favorites that may include kabobs, sheftlalia sausage and zucchini with eggs will follow. A halva pudding cake will likely be served for dessert.
