OVERVIEW
Absorb Mauritius’ natural beauty during this showcase of two lovely islets. After an approximately 75-minute scenic drive, arrive at Pointe Jerome, where you’ll board a boat to Île aux Aigrettes, a 61-acre nature reserve surrounded by translucent turquoise waters abounding with protected flora and fauna unique to Mauritius. Learn that this preserve, managed by the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation, was once home to the now-extinct dodo and today protects rare species including the Mauritius pink pigeon, the colorful day gecko and the Aldabra giant tortoise, as well as the rare Oeniella Aphrodite orchid. Reboarding your boat, transfer back to mainland where you will catch your coach and drive to Pointe d’Esny. Proceed to the shuttle boat and travel through the Blue Bay National Marine Park to blissful Île des Deux Cocos, site of pearl-white beaches and crystalline waters. After a brief refreshment break, visit the enchanting, 100-year-old Follies Villa, which features a Creole-style interior, contemporary comfort and a tranquil Moorish-style courtyard highlighted with an attractive tiled fountain. You’ll choose either snorkeling or a glass-bottom boat trip before partaking in a tasty barbecue lunch accompanied by acoustic guitars and velvet-voiced singers. Following lunch, enjoy approximately one hour of free time to roam the island or simply laze in the shade of a casuarina tree, lulled by the magic of this bewitching islet.
