Although first opened in 1952, the building has been redesigned with a modern flair that has been recognized with awards such as one for National Urban Rehabilitation. Within the contemporary interior bathed in natural light, you will browse three floors of merchandise and gastronomic specialties. You will delve deeper into the locals wines during a tasting at Herança Magna, a beloved entertainment venue across the River Duoro in the city of Vila Nova de Gaia. A traditional Portuguese lunch will follow with entrées that may include baked cod and veal patties prepared in styles that reflect the area’s Mediterranean-influenced cuisine.

Need to Know:

Note: This tour includes approximately 1 hours and 20 minutes of moderate walking/standing; plus 10 additional minutes of walking at the guests' discretion during their time at the market. There will be 4 steps to enter/exit the motor coach. Guests will have to manage paved, tiles and sandy surfaces throughout the excursion. The tour is available to guests who utilize a collapsible wheelchair, are able to both make their way on and off the coach and have a companion to assist them. Those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Casual, weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable, flat walking shoes are suggested.
