OVERVIEW
Cruise through a pristine fjord in a catamaran with a hybrid engine that is remarkably quiet to allow for closer wildlife viewing. Launched in 2023, the MS Bard features the latest technology to minimize its effect on the Arctic environment. It is built with lightweight, recycled aluminum, which enables the catamaran to approach glaciers and other areas that may not be accessible otherwise. The captain will choose the exact route the day of the adventure based on weather conditions, water conditions and recent wildlife observations. As you cruise through Isfjorden – the second-longest fjord within the Svalbard archipelago – you may spot marine life such as seals, walruses, polar bears and whales. Svalbard reindeer and Arctic foxes are often seen along the coast and seabirds are prevalent most everywhere. The Svalbard rock ptarmigan is the archipelago’s largest terrestrial bird while the graceful Northern fulmar is typically the most commonly spotted avian species.
