OVERVIEW
Fly off to Amboseli National Park, which lies in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro, and then head into the bush on two game drives to look for iconic African animals. During the morning foray, you will ride in a 4x4 vehicle through the park’s vast open plains, where free-ranging elephants are often observed. The melting snow from nearby Kilimanjaro flows underground into the park, feeding the springs and marshes and attracting a multitude of animals, including the Big Five: lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and Cape buffalo. You may also spot zebras, hippos and antelope roaming about the 150-square-mile park, which borders Tanzania. Around mid-day, you will be served a hearty buffet lunch at the Ol Tukai Lodge. You will travel through another section of the park on the afternoon game drive, where you will likely observe different animals. Be sure to notice the ground’s rust-red color, evidence of its volcanic origin.
