Maceio Highlights

OVERVIEW

On this excursion you will visit Maceio's main tourist and historic attractions. There will be a panoramic tour at the historic Jaraguá quarter, the backdrop for the artistic, cultural and economic development of Alagoas state. Departing the pier, you will head to the city center where you will be able to take photographs at one of the most important architectural sites of Alagoas, which features the Bom Jesus dos Martírios Church, Government House, Maceio City Hall, Marechal Deodoro Square, the Academy of Letters, the State Law Courts, Bráulio Cavalcante Square, followed by a stop at a second site of great architectural Legislative Assembly and a visit inside Nossa Sra dos Prazeres Cathedral. You will then be able to stop for photos at the city's main panoramic viewpoint known as Mirante de São Gonçalo, which offers a view of part of the coastal area as well as its main districts. The tour will then proceed with a look at the city's main beaches, including Jatiúca beach, Ponta Verde and Pajuçara, a perfect moment to take in the charm and beauty of the contrast between the old and new buildings and restaurants along Maceio coastline. Before your drive back to the port, you will stop at the Pontal da Barra Handicraft Center. Here, fishermen and artisans produce and sell their local arts and crafts. Take some time to wander through the many stalls selling items made of straw, wood, ceramic and lace and make any purchases that you can’t resist.
