Delve into local life through experiences that will reveal the diversity of the culture.

You will see some of the world’s biggest and rarest kites at the Shirone Kite Museum. The majority of them are adorned with designs based on Japanese warriors, mythology and characters from kabuki theater. Some of the kites are so large that it takes dozens of people to get them airborne.

Soaking in the Iwamuro hot springs will present a different side of local life. As you ease into the soothing waters, you can’t help but feel wonderfully relaxed, as the setting is naturally beautiful. For centuries, locals have enjoyed the benefits of the mineral-rich waters, which are said to reduce stress and relieve pain.

The Shinto religion has thrived in Japan even longer, as you will discover at the Yahiko shrine, where it has been practiced since the 8th century. The shrine complex that stands on the site today was built in 1916.
