OVERVIEW
Follow a natural path through the wilds of Paradise Valley and pause at the halfway point for breathtaking view. The trailhead isn’t far out of town, yet the surrounding landscape will appear more remote than it really is. The trail is considered moderately challenging but stops will be made along the way to rest and enjoy the gorgeous scenery of rocky hills, jumbles of boulders, waterfalls, and majestic view of the coastline. One can also drink fresh water from rushing streams fed by snowmelt. The guide will also pause to describe the indigenous flora and how best to forage for wild herbs, edible plants, and crowberries when available, which are typically used in salads, juices, and jellies. Along the way, take a break to enjoy a tasting experience of traditional Greenlandic snacks—simple, authentic, and full of cultural flavor. Sample local specialties such as reindeer or muskox hotdogs/sandwiches, and for those interested, a small tasting of whale ‘mattak’—a traditional Inuit delicacy—along with other Arctic-inspired bites that reflect Greenland’s rich culinary heritage.
