OVERVIEW
Settle in for a wonderfully scenic cruise off Nawiliwili on a 50-foot catamaran with plenty of deck space to move around as you please. A lengthy breakwater shelters Nawiliwili and its harbor so the seas should be nice and calm. The catamaran will skirt along the beautiful coast and up the Hulei’a River toward a national wildlife refuge that offers a secluded habitat for water birds such as the nēnē, a goose that is Hawaii’s state bird. You will also see the lava rock-walled Menehune Fish Pond that early Hawaiians built to raise and harvest fish for royalty. The pond is so culturally important that it has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. To the east of the breakwater, you will find the Ninini Point Lighthouse, a beacon built at the entrance to the harbor in 1897. You may also see dolphins and humpback whales while cruising.
