Queen Charlotte Track Hike & Cruise

Don't simply gaze upon the beauty of Queen Charlotte Sound; experience it up close and personal by walking its perimeter track. A motor launch takes you there and back.

Depart right from the pier aboard a motor launch, which will carry you into Queen Charlotte Sound, past iconic Wedge Point and on to Mistletoe Bay. Along the way, the natural scenery is stunning and it only gets better as you disembark and join the Queen Charlotte Track.

You will follow a trail which loops around a peninsula with spectacular coastal views. The loop is part of the renowned Queen Charlotte Track system, a 45-mile walkway that extends almost the entire length of Queen Charlotte Sound, and the portion around Mistletoe Bay is among the most picturesque.

The trail leads through regenerating native forest , with some large stands of tree ferns, manuka and beech trees. The song of native birds will be the only sound to disturb the peaceful surroundings. Nearby you will be able to venture into a fully protected “James Vogel” reserve section of native rainforest to experience what the forest on the peninsula will be like in hundreds of years to come. On your return journey, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit while exploring some secluded bays only accessible by boat.
