OVERVIEW
This tour is intended for guests who have limited mobility, rely on a cane or walker, or for guests’ companions.
Delve into Greece’s ancient past at the Acropolis Museum and explore a somewhat more contemporary side of Athens at attractions such as the stadium where the first modern Olympics were held in 1896. This enlightening look at the capital city will begin with an introductory drive past the ruins of the 2nd-century Temple of Olympian Zeus and on to the neoclassical Hellenic Parliament Building on Syntagma Square, where you will watch the changing of the guards. You will also stop at the Panathenaic Stadium, the world’s only stadium built entirely of marble. The artifacts that you will see at the museum were mostly unearthed from the slopes surrounding the Acropolis. You may view pieces of the Parthenon’s frieze and parts of the parapet that surrounded the Temple of Athena Nike. Plaka, the oldest section of Athens, also exudes history as you will discover while meandering about its atmospheric, pedestrian-friendly streets.
