This leisurely tour combines a drive through the lush Tijuca Forest and a trip up to Corcovado Mountain and the famous Christ the Redeemer landmark. From this vantage point, you'll get a birds-eye view of beautiful Rio.
Departing from the port, your drive takes you through downtown to the Cosme Velho district. Here, you will board the cog railway for the 30-minute ride up to Corcovado. Emperor Dom Pedro II opened the railway in October 1884. At that time it was opened with steam trains but they were replaced with electric trains in 1910. The 2.5-mile railway itself travels through the scenic Tijuca Forest that covers an area of 47 square miles and the ride offers fine views. As you reach the upper terminus, weather permitting, you will be treated to breathtaking views over the city. To reach the very top and the 120-foot-high statue, you will take an elevator and escalator.
After approximately 1-hour, you'll descend the mountain via the cog railway and rejoin your motor coach for a panoramic drive through the city to the Sao Conrado District and past Rio's beautiful beaches before returning to the pier.
