Hike through a magnificent rainforest on La Palma, an island with so many critically important ecosystems that UNESCO declared the entirety a Biosphere Reserve. You will begin at Cubo de La Galga and follow a path of approximately four miles through an exotic wilderness where the only sounds will be those of nature. Humid trade winds and coastal fogs characteristic of the ancient Tertiary Era have enabled relict plants such as laurel trees and giant ferns to survive in this densely forested primeval setting. Along the way, the guide will describe the characteristics of each ecosystem. Upon reaching La Somada Alta lookout at 3,000 feet above sea level, you will be awed by the extraordinary view of the landscape that seems to stretch out forever. During the descent through the Enchanted Forest, you will come upon a few isolated houses and terraced fields, where you may see farmers going about their chores.
