Discover how Singapore promotes water sustainability and renewable energies by visiting two destinations that showcase innovative technologies. While browsing the NEWater Visitor Centre, you will learn how pure water is made from reclaimed water. The process is more essential than ever because Singapore has limited land to collect and store rainwater, so it must import half its water supply from Malaysia. As you will see at NEWater, that trend is reversing. Similarly, Gardens by the Bay uses sustainable solar energy to power its Super Tree grove, a collection of 18 towering artificial trees that are illuminated at night. Skywalks connect some of the higher Super Trees, allowing you to walk between them more than 150 above the ground. During free time, you can follow trails through the real landscaping in this urban oasis. The Heritage Gardens are particularly fascinating as they feature ethnic-themed areas with plants from around the world. Debris from the plants is used to create power.
