See many of the iconic attractions that define Rostock and come away with a greater appreciation for this city known for its deep-red brick buildings from Hanseatic times. Since the late 19th century, public transportation has helped fuel Rostock’s development, and you will view a collection of historical public vehicles such as trams at the depot museum. Walking through downtown will present an even older side of the city through landmarks such as the University of Rostock, which was founded in 1419, or the St. Mary’s church which you will pass by on your walking tour. During free time, you might browse Kropelin Street, a pedestrianized shopping area lined with gabled Gothic-style houses. Rather than drive back to Warnemünde, you will cruise there on the Warnow River as it gently flows toward the Baltic Sea. To toast the occasion, German beer and snacks will be served.
