Paoay Sand Dunes Adventure

OVERVIEW

Ride in a 4x4 vehicle across the massive coastal sand dunes to the north, a desert-like setting that attracts all sorts of adventurers. While racing across this arid terrain near Suba Beach, you may see sand boarders “surfing” the dunes and horseback riders galloping across the extraordinary landscape. Besides being enormous, the sand dunes are steep and driving over them in a 4x4 vehicle will be like riding a rollercoaster. You can expect one exhilarating thrill after another as you tear up and down the sand dunes. As a more subdued complement to the experience, you will visit Saint Augustine Church in the town of Paoay. Wide and heavily buttressed, it was built to withstand earthquakes and it has since 1710. UNESCO listed the church along with three other baroque churches as a World Heritage site. The separate three-story bell tower out front was used as an observation post during World War II.
