OVERVIEW
Explore the natural world on the spectacularly beautiful Cape Peninsula by visiting a nature reserve and a bay where you will kayak among penguins. As you travel south, you will pass through affluent suburbs, the fishing village of Hout Bay and on to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. The floral biodiversity within this region is so astounding and unique that UNESCO declared it a World Heritage site. Incredibly, nearly a third of the plant species are found nowhere else in the world. To capture the ultimate view, you will ride the Flying Dutchman Funicular over a landscape of dense fynbos to an elevated observation area. Your sea kayaking adventure will take place off Boulders Beach, which has supported a colony of African penguins for decades. Paddling among these small penguins – known for their donkey-like brays – will be an unforgettable experience. Walking among them on the beach will offer an even closer view.
