Get to know Fort-de-France, the capital of Martinique on this delightful walking tour. Walk with your English speaking guide from the ship to the Belain d’Esnambuc Statue. You’ll learn about the city’s rich history, architecture and tropical plants as you walk through bustling, narrow city streets. Some of the highlights include Fort St Louis, which guards the harbor, the War Memorial, and La Savanna.


Pass the Schoelcher Library, named after the island’s most famous abolitionist who labored to free Martinique’s slaves, the Prefecture building and Maison Bougenot - a traditional colonial home. Continue past the Town Hall and Municipal Theatre before pausing for some fresh local juice or mineral water. Walk past the courthouse with its statue honoring Victor Schoelcher and the St. Louis Cathedral before your tour ends at the main shopping street, here you can shop at your leisure.


Need to Know:

Note: Guests must be at least 7 years of age and maximum 75 years. If the ship does not dock in downtown then you will be transferred to Fort-de-France via bus. The return transfer is on your own. Taxis are available or if you prefer you can walk back to the ship. Approximate walking distance is 1.5 miles.
