OVERVIEW

Enjoy an entertaining and spectacularly scenic cruise along Tudor Creek in a traditional dhow, a type of wooden sailboat that originated in India or the Middle East perhaps as early as 600 B.C. Dhows were predominantly used for coastal trade in East Africa, and they are still ideally suited for these waters. You will set sail from the Tamarind jetty near the mouth of the creek, just across from the Old Town of Mombasa. Over the centuries, the Arabs Portuguese and British have all ruled this area and their architectural influences are still evident. Fort Jesus is particularly notable as this UNESCO World Heritage site is an outstanding example of a 16th-century Portuguese fortification. While taking in the sights, you will enjoy a four-course meal that will include traditional grilled dishes such as Kenyan-style chicken tikka. To enhance the onboard experience, a deejay will play music that perfectly suits the mood.
