OVERVIEW

Explore Zanzibar's splendid beaches and marine life during this memorable dhow boat and snorkeling adventure at the Pange Sandbank. Depart the pier for the brief drive to the Serena Inn Hotel or Tembo Hotel,(depending on the tides). Upon arrival, you will receive your safety and tour instructions, embark your traditional wooden dhow boat and begin the 30-minute ride to the Pange Sandbank. Here, you can relax on the sandbank with a fresh coconut drink and some snacks, or participate in a guided snorkeling session on a nearby reef. After a seafood lunch buffet, coffee and Amarula liqueur will be served, followed by some additional time to swim or relax on the beach. At the conclusion of your visit, you will embark your dhow boat, return to the boarding point and re-board your coach for the return drive to the pier.

Need to Know:

Note: Boarding the dhow is by way of a small rung ladder over the side. Access to the boat includes a walk along a sandy beach with some steps to be negotiated. Once the dhow boat arrives at the sandbank, guests must be able to disembark via a small ladder over the side of the boat and wade ashore. Expect water to be up to knee-level. Lunch will be served under a canvas tent. You will spend a total of approximately 1 hour on the dhow boat; seating is on wooden benches. There is limited shade on the dhow. Guests are encouraged to wear a swimsuit under a cover-up, water shoes, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, and bring a towel from the ship.
