Cruise 101: Things to Do on Sea Days
If you’ve cruised with Norwegian, you already know there are plenty of onboard activities to enjoy on sea days; boredom is not in Norwegian’s vocabulary. Excitement always comes with docking at your cruise ports of call, but just as much fun and adventure await you on your days at sea. When you have the entire day to explore your cruise ship, start with some of these fun, relaxing, or exciting things to do.
Vibe Beach Club
Found on board Norwegian Bliss, Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Breakaway, and Norwegian Getaway, Vibe Beach Club is one of the cruise line’s hidden gems. Vibe Beach Club is an all-adult (age 18+), limited access lounging and sunbathing oasis. The private whirlpools offer quiet and deep relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds.
Norwegian also limits the number of passes that can be purchased to enter Vibe Beach Club in order to ensure tranquility by never allowing the club to feel overcrowded. There are plenty of cushioned chaise lounges and chairs and a full-service bar for ultimate relaxation. These first-come first-served passes must be booked through Guest Services once you board, so it’s a good idea to go straight there on embarkation day.
Mandara Spa
A day at sea is the perfect opportunity for pampering yourself, and the Mandara Spa is the ultimate place to unwind. The Thermal Suite aboard most Norwegian cruise ships offers heat and water therapy in the form of a Thalasso Therapy Pool, hot tubs, herbal steam and sauna rooms, heated chaise loungers, and a Vitality Pool. Rejuvenating tired and sore muscles is easy here.
One of the most classic ways to enjoy your day at sea is by getting a world-class massage at Mandara Spa. Therapeutic massages such as Mandara’s Hot Stone Heaven Massage and Elemis Aroma Spa Seaweed Massage are perfect picks for getting pampered. Facial treatments, body wraps, and acupuncture are also among the treatments offered.
Water Parks and Sports
With Norwegian’s Pools & Aqua Parks and Sports Complex, there’s plenty of adventure on board. Fly high and fall fast on Norwegian Breakaway Class Ships’ Free Fall which is the fastest drop slide sailing the ocean blue. Additional waterslides, swimming pools, and splash parks are a great way to soak up the sun and cool down in the water on your sea day. In addition to the water parks, participating in sports is another way to get the most out of your day.
Most ships offer a Sports Deck, where you can perfect your gaming skills playing Basketball, Volleyball, or Soccer. The Norwegian Epic and Norwegian Pearl also offer bowling alleys. On the Breakaway Plus Class Ships, you can practice your balancing and coordination skills on a Ropes Course. And if you’re really a thrill seeker, you won’t want to miss The Plank. Hanging out 8 feet over the side of the ship, dare your fellow travelers to see who is brave enough to walk The Plank!
Whether you are into sunbathing, relaxation, or fun activities, there is something in store for every type of cruiser aboard a Norwegian Cruise Line ship. Be sure to check the activities and amenities offered for each ship you are considering, as they are all unique.
