Dock at Harvest Caye
With many Caribbean and Panama Canal cruises making port at Harvest Caye in 2025, you can enjoy this unique getaway during your luxury vacation with Norwegian. When docking here, leave plenty of time to traverse the pier, as it can take upward of 15 minutes to make landfall.
If you want to journey off Harvest Caye during your port of call, you can take a ferry to Placencia. If you opt for this ferry ride, be aware that there are only around 400 passenger slots available per day. To sign up for the ferry, you can get tickets from the excursion desk onboard the ship, where you can also see the ferry schedule. Be mindful of when the return ferry leaves, as there's only a limited number of rides back to Harvest Caye.
Take a Shore Excursion
There's no need to journey to the colorful beach town off the island, as there are plenty of shore excursions to make everyone in your party happy. Here are some shore excursions to consider signing up for:
- Lagoon wildlife and mangrove estuaries: For a relaxing, short excursion, this adventure starts on a smaller motor launch and takes you through the surrounding saltwater mangrove estuaries. You can encounter local wildlife and learn more about life in tropical waters.
- Flighthouse zipline: For more of a thrill, you can sign up for a zipline adrenaline package that boasts a starting point at the tallest building in Belize. With several different thrilling activities to choose from, this excursion gives anyone aged eight and up a bird's eye view of this beautiful island.
- Mayan temple of Nim Li Punit: Archeologists and history buffs alike will enjoy this afternoon adventure that journeys to the archaeological site of Nim Li Punit. After visiting this gorgeous site, enjoy a traditional lunch at the Spice Farm, where you can sample local food and drinks.
- Rainforest river tubing: Relaxing and the sounds of the jungle are two things you get plenty of with this shore excursion. On this river tubing ride, you can take in the densely forested countryside and a picturesque mountain gorge while bobbing along in the crystal-clear water.
- Parasailing: For more fun on the water, you can opt for a sky-high parasailing experience. With a line firmly attached to the back of a motorboat, you can soar hundreds of feet about the crystal-clear Caribbean Sea and make a lasting memory.
Explore the Nature Center
Norwegian also helped to create a free nature park on the island, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local flora and fauna without having to spend a dime. Catch sight of toucans, scarlet macaws, boa constrictors, and other wildlife. There's even an enclosed butterfly garden where you can also see iguanas lazing about.
Enjoy the Swimming Area
Right next to the island's welcome center is a 15,000-square-foot swimming pool. Lounge chairs in the sun or shade let you choose whether to catch a tan or just relax without a care in the world.
This area also hosts a swim-up bar and plenty of in-pool seating, where you can grab a drink or a small bite without having to leave the water. For an added fee, you can reserve a private pool-facing cabana with air conditioning, a mini fridge, a couch, and plenty of seating.
Right next to the pool is another fun spot for your kids. If your little ones like water slides, water activities, and a giant barrel that dumps gallons of water on them every so often, then the splash pad is the ideal spot for the whole family to spend the afternoon.

Kayak or Tour the Saltwater Lagoon
One unique advantage of this port is that it's one of the few islands that has direct access to the Mesoamerican coral reef. This calm lagoon is perfect for kayaking or paddleboarding, where you can get up close to the water wildlife.
These activities give you a nice little workout on your vacation, and they also provide the opportunity to see the sea life much more closely than you would aboard a boat tour or ship. Another benefit of this little excursion is that it offers more quiet time to bond with your group as there may be only a small group of kayakers or paddleboarders out at a time.
